Keaton Beach 6.6.09

Post by bigblister »

We had a boat full this morning. Dad, mom, LL, PL and me. Got on the water at 7:30 to an overcast day and a little drizzle of rain. The water was stained and 78 degrees in the morning. We made it to the first stop north of Keaton and I picked up a nice 18" trout. Not much else was biting so we kept chugging north to the next spot. We stopped in about 6 feet of water and began chunking all sorts of gulp varieties. LL was retrieving a brand new Berkley Power Bait (glow chartruese) and hooked up with a gigantic trout right next to the boat. The big trout was having none of it and broke the line above the cork. I was using 12lb. FIRELINE so I'm guessing she was over 25" easy. If you pick up a nice trout around Adam's Beach dragging a neon green cork give me a shout.

LL then proceeded to pick up another nice 18" trout:

Dad picked a very nice 23.5" trout on the same type of Berkley powerbait.

We picked up 9 nice trout by about 11:30 and decided to head in for lunch. Also, I wanted to see if our new lab puppy, Belle, wanted to join us. Belle is a 16 week old English Lab from Huntfield Kennel in Mississippi. I highly recomend the group if you are looking for a great dog. She was awesome on her first trip out.

We picked up a few more in the afternoon, but it was slow. We ended up the day with 12 nice keepers and a great time with the family, wife and puppy.

Nothing wrong with that.
Looks I should have gone to Keaton.

WTG! Nice trip for sure. Puppy looks like a great Lab. I look forward to hearing more stories about Belle and her successes too.
