Academic Eligibility
For those of you that have been paying attention to the FSU/NCAA pissing match...
Does anyone know EXACTLY when an athlete becomes academically ineligible? I just read the NCAA's response to FSU and I kept going back to when does one actually become ineligible. Is it the moment you cheat? Is it the moment you get caught? I ALWAYS thought that you were only academically ineligible once your grades fell below the threshold of failing as decided by the school and/or NCAA guidelines. To me that means that if you get caught cheating, you fail that test and/or class, whatever the academic guidelines say. As long as your grades and/or overall gpa do not drop below a certain threshold (gpa of 2.0?) you are fine to compete. Am I correct?
Im not arguing if the penalties were excessive or not, I want to know if the players involvolved were actually ineligible
Can anyone shed some real light on this question?

Re: Academic Eligibility
There is a long and complicated code of conduct for all student athletes that is dictated by the NCAA. Part of the eligibility standard is maintaining a certain GPA (2.0) but it also includes in a seperate clause NOT CHEATING!!! I believe any cheating makes the play ineligible.
On a seperate note:
The starting FSU QB, Tailback, and Middle Line Backer are in a car togeather. Who's driving?

FSU used to clear about $1.50 a game before Bowden, so all Bowden got off of FSU is a part of the bounty he brought to FSU. When I was a teenager before Bowden came to FSU, you could walk up to the gate at game time and get a really good seat between the 40 yard lines. In fact, if you called ahead, they would hold kickoff for you.
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!

If you waited until after the first quarter admission was free and you could sit anywhere you wanted.MudDucker wrote: When I was a teenager before Bowden came to FSU, you could walk up to the gate at game time and get a really good seat between the 40 yard lines. What was I supposed to do today?

I thought you used to win tournaments occassionally? I had chalked it up to you being over the hill, but maybe I was misled.Jumptrout51 wrote:I am still in my fishing prime.

In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.
