Scalloping closed?

Post by Redbelly »

I heard they were closing from ecofina to lanark for the summer due to a huge sewage spill. Is this true?

Maybe it all started with that lady kayaker who is/was touring the coast to promote the cause for ocean health. While I support the cause, I thought she went a little over the top when she said to the press that the area at mouth of Econfina was so polluted that it burned her eyes/skin (or so I hear second-hand).

Does anyone know what or why the sludge has stayed around Bald Pt? It extends westward from the mouth of the O.
It is 3-4" deep and stinks. You can see the discoloration going outward from shore.

I have heard that there was a herd of wild pigs that were sick swimming in the Econfina and Aucilla rivers. I would definitely stay out of the waters in that area.... :-D

I'm sure the folks that run the Marinas, Fish Camps, motels, restaurants, etc. that depend on revenues from the season really appreciate you boys spreading the word about all the sick pigs, fecal matter and nuclear waste! Good job.

There IS something out there......around Bald Pt. I also read another report from the Lanark area about a bad smell at low tide, a really bad smell.

Do these businesses want sick visitors? :smt010
