I'm building on a test blank and I'm using African Cobra skin between the rear grips and as a butt wrap. I had the idea this morning of possibly trying to scaled trout or redfish skin the same way.
The question is, can fish skin be tanned or processed for this application?
Wouldn't it be cool to catch a redfish on a rod with redfish skin as the wrap or for accent trim?

Are you kidding me? Where do you and BD's skills end? That said, what would anyone want with a pigeon mount?

Never messed with fish...I have heard you can do skin mounts with saltwater...the color would be off once it dried and you would have to paint it then clear it. Sounds like a cool idea.

Saw a carbon fiber fore grip on a 12 wt that was nice the other day

I saw a grip yesterday and the spinning reel was formed in to the carbon fiber grip. Very, very very light but if you ever had to repair the reel, the rod was junk.
