I met CapnCrunch at dawn on Sunday morning. We caught some mullet and went to look for some tarpon action. It was a bit breezy which made sight casting plugs from a kayak difficult. After seeing my bait supply quickly dissappear to dink sharks, I reluctantly threw my last one in a spot we had already seen several tarpon surface roll. Two minutes later, my drag starts singing and a tarpon invites me to dance by fully breaking the surface of the water as only a tarpon can do. It quickly peeled off 150 yards of line and jumped several times before I could release my anchor and give chase. After about 45 minutes and over a mile later, I got the fish boat side and was able to release her safely. She was almost 6 feet long and just as pretty a girl as there is in the sea. I've fished for tarpon several times this year, and finally got one from the kayak. Can't wait to do it again!
