Need to replace mine. Looking at TH brand ping pong ball type rather than flapper. Any suggestions
The ones on the boat are not bad just slowly disintegrating and make a mess if you touch one.

People say they are wonderful. I just put them on my Key West they still let some water in but it depends where your scuppers are located. I have only used them once and have not put much weight in the boat since they have benn added. They are cheap also I got two shipped to me the next day for 20 bucks from a place in Daytona.

My custom skiff has a set of ball-bearing scuppers that work on the same principle. They ship water rapidly, but they do tend to collect trash like blades of seagrass, remnants of leader or in my case with my first mate, wads of dog hair. When this happens, the balls can jam open and leak a little backwash. To solve this I flush them out a couple times a year with the hose and use my shop vac to thoroughly clean up the debris. I still like these better than the flapper style, tho.

i installed a pair of the ping-pong balls type.....i could not stand the noise they made....i went back to the flapper type

Wine corks work great. Merlot last longer than Cabernet or Reisling
Quiet too.

Funny u say that about corks. I actually have the ping pong ball type discussed, and they do work well, however, we still get water in the back of the boat with 2 big guys standing back there.
I went to Ace Hardware and bought 2 1 3/4" black rubber stoppers. I plug the holes up inside till i need to drain. In summertime is no biggie, but once its cold water out there, that water staying out makes a difference on the toes.

A buddy of mine was quite creative. He has a 25ft C-Hawk with flap scuppers. He took a piece of white cutting board and cut two pieces a bit larger than the scupper holes. Then drilled two holds in each the exact size of a boat plug. HE then completely sealed off the holes in the stern from the inside of the boat. If he needs to drain it he just pulls the plugs. Pretty brilliant idea, and works great and keeps you completely dry on those winter trips.

I've got the ping pong ball scuppers. They don't work too great and they catch a lot of trash. I always carry two regular boat plugs so I can plug the scupper holes when I am concerned about water on the back deck.
