The weather was very nice early in the morning but picked up heavy late in the evening. We were in a 27' Sportcraft with a fly bridge which does fairly well in rough seas. the bite was still slow. we first went out to 90' of water and picked up only a few reds. We then headed back in to 75' and went to large rock outcropping and drifted over it with a variety of frozen baits. The trick was whole Ly's. We limited out with 15 keeper blacks, the largest being 32". All in all it was a great day of fishing even though the fishing was slow. A friend was out the same day fishing with large live baits at the Exxon Template and landed a 300 pound plus jew fish. took a few pictures and released the giant. he also caught several nice black snapper. I am ready for the big bite to be on. should only be a few weeks away in the deeper water when snapper season opens.
I have a few pictures of black snapper but rarely take pictures unless their of larger species of fish. I have loaded up on black snapper at the different public and OAR wrecks close to inshore. I will post some pictures later.
