I had reds tailing every morning and evening right out back all week long. it was just great! you could walk out back and they would be all around you tailing. i tried to get them on fly but i couldn't quite reach them. and if i could reach them, after several false casts it took to reach the distance, they were several feet out of range or uninterested by that time. but when switched to a spinning rod and gold spoon they they would go out of their way to grab it. mostly slot sized fish but i release most fish i catch anyway. I think i'll bring a bunch of gold spoon flies this time. I really want to focus on pomps on fly in the surf near bob sikes cut jetty. I want to do some serious surf fly fishing. i love wading the surf. I have the bug for some doormat flounder and pompano on fly this year! it would be epic to get into some pompano tailing on the sand bar.
