Any advice Fishing Spring Creek/Shell Point

Post by Ron Wilson »

?

Got by tail kicked the last two days out of St. Mark's (will post later when I'm at home).

Was pondering fishing either Spring Creek or Shell Point. Don't see a lot of posts covering these areas, just wondering how the fishing is, nasty spots to avoid, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Ty One On is the expert for that area  I haven't fished it at all this year "aint fished much period" :smt012 but I've never faied to catch a Trout or Red in Oyster Bay this time of year  and there are usually a lot of Trout on the flats out in front of Shell Point

I went 1st time last weekend with a friend to Spring Creek. We caught 4 Trout (16-18") 1 Red (18 1/2") and 1 Flounder (14") There are many, many oyster bars. I recommend going at low tide to be able to see them. Pay close attention to the channel markers and stay within them! The islands and marsh creeks look very fishy and I am looking forward to getting over there again soon to explore some more.

Stay away from Shell Point it is covered with oil !
Just kidding, we don't post reports from here because we want to keep it to ourselves.
I fish out of Shell Point and the fishing is good. I am still learning my way around and like said eariler be carefull of the oyster bars. Oyster bay has it's name for a reason. You can try the bars or the flats in front of Shell Point. All are within a mile or two of each other. You don't have to make a long run to find a different spot or bottom.

Shell Point does not have a public ramp or a bait shop which can be a pain sometimes.
