Hobie sent me my new 2011 Revolution yesterday. This one is the new Olive Green color. I like it. After putting a few essentials on it, I loaded it up in the truck and went fishing this morning.
I was met at the launch with a stiff 15 mph wind out of the east. Undaunted, I paddled out to an area that's been known to hold a redfish or two. Nothing like a new kayak. Getting in one and paddling out for the first time always gives me an extra dose of that feeling we anglers are addicted to--optimism. Fishing a strong outgoing tide, I picked up some lower slot reds to about 22". I was using a Chartruse ADL spoon. Then I found a few of these topslots
I then paddled over to some obvious feeding action going on. My first cast and subsequent familiar thump of a redfish hookup yielded this 30+ inch bruiser
After releasing that one, I immediately hook up with another big fish. This overslot fish decided to take permanent possession of my spoon and swam off into the sunrise. Having already gotten the goodie out of the morning bite, I paddled to the hill. Here's a couple more pics of my new red and trout fishing machine
