Keaton Beach 5/5/04

Post by birddog »

Took the day off and headed to Keaton beach this morning. On the water by 9:30a.m. Headed over to piney pt. Started out in 3' right off the pt. Nothing happening there. Ended up running out to 7 ' water and drifting back to the pt. Started picking up fish in 5' water. Fished until 1:30 p.m. and ended up with 5 keeper trout (17-19.5"), 1 rock bass, 1 - 20" spanish, and 6 throwback trout. Caught everything on a chicken bone grub under a equilizer cork or a red/white catch 2000 in 5' of water.

The water was slightly cloudy, but with good visability. There's a lot of floating grass around that made topwater pretty tough. Got checked by the Man just before I left. He checked the fish/boat and was very polite and I enjoyed talking with him.

Hope this good weather holds I'm planning to go back Monday.
