Keaton Beach Trout

Post by Tritonlkpk »

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site. We (Brother-in-law and myself) left out of Keaton Beach headed East of markers to 6-7 foot. We drifted east toward Piney Point around 8:30am. had limit just after 12pm. 16" to 21" trout, started culling after 12:30pm. We ended up with 10 trout 17.5 - 21". Fishing a Gulp jerk shad pulling it through the grass.....yes, just like bass fishing with a worm. Fishing it slow. Water was clear and the fish were solid. Picked up 3 spanish 1 over 24" and 2 black bass 13". Good day on the water, beats working! We emptied 6 bags of Gulp Jerk shad after 7 hours on the water, had more money in bait than gas in the boat! Hope this helps?

Welcome... glad to see a great report. If you lose lots of money in bait, we already have something in common!

Good report and good fishing.

Did you rig Texas style or use a gig head?

We fished with 1/16th and 1/8th ounce lead heads. By the way, this was Saturday 4/09. Forgot to put the date. When the pinfish started attacking our bait it was only a few seconds before the THUMP! Set the hook and tighten the line. Best day on the flats I've had in 8 months.
