Left landing about 900 Fri morning and arrive in flats to find wind blowing! Started a drift right out of the mouth of the river and found some good fish. Ended up the day with 7 trout and 1 red meas 26.5 inches. Trout were 21, 19.5,19.5,19.5,18,16.5 1ne 15.6. Lost 3 large trout due to net malfunction.... Mainly me! Caught them on topwater top dogs mostly / The color of the day was chartruse, in jigs, and top water.
This was a joint effort by me and my fishing partner/ He did catch more than me and wasn' t to happy with the net girl..... I am ashamed to admit. I guess I need more practice as we have been grouper getters for the last several years. Thank the feds for this learning curve....
Nice catch. I always say 90% of the netting is the person on the end of the rod, just get the net in the water and swim her in. That's my theory when I'm on the end of the net anyhow

Have you noticed that as soon as you grab the net, everyone else is an expert on how to use it?
To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.
I agree with Jumptrout51! The netter should never "stab" at the fish, just simply let the fish swim into the net. Since I have to net my own fish (rod in one hand and net in other), if I miss, 50% of the time it's my fault!
