I want to to say hello to everyone since this is my first post here. I've been enjoying reading the forum for the past couple of years. Right now I live in Maryland, but I have a place down there in Medart and as soon as I can afford the move I will be living down there permanently. You guys might not realize it, but you live in a great place with great people. So here is my question.
Has anyone plotted a route in Mapsource by using the Google Earth overlay? If so how accurate has it turned out to be. When I'm down there I fish out of Panacea in Oyster Bay and as you all know there are a lot of obstacles out there. When I make a route in Mapsource and view it in Google Earth I can see where it is going over humps and oyster mounds. I can then adjust the route to where I am threading the needle between the obstacles and getting into some hard to reach holes that on Google Earth look very fishy. If the overlay isn't accurate though I'm thinking it could cause more problems than it's worth. Has anyone tried this? If so did it seem to work?

Re: Garmin Mapsource Routing and Google Earth
I don't plan my trips with Mapsource and Google Earth.
But it is how I now keep my journal.
I import my route from my Garmin to Mapsource to Google Earth where I have a record of all my trips with catches and conditions.

If your GPS is set to the same datum as Google Earth it's deadly accurate.
What was I supposed to do today?
