Fished some of my go to spots today with two of my buddies. It was still slower than I had hoped for, but we managed a few fish. Picked up a keeper spanish on a mirrodine about an hour and a half into the trip and this was really our first good catch. We had to weed through trash fish for a while until one of my friends finally hooked up to something good. He is definitely not the most experienced fisherman as half of the things that he thinks are fish end up being snags. Haha me and my other partner weren't too sure he would win the battle but we did our best to coach him through it. The first minute of the fight consisted of the fish ripping drag and my friend just standing there with his eyes lit up and us telling him to just let the fish run. As he started gaining ground, we saw the fish and it was a nice red. At this point, he was breathing deeply to stay calm haha and was definitely nervous. He has seen many fish get off his hook at the side of the boat. We successfully netted a 26 inch red and as soon as it came into the boat he yelled WOOOOO! He was definitely fired up about his catch, not much beats watching someone like that catch a nice fish when they aren't used to it. We put one more keeper mackeral in the boat, an undersized trout, and another red that was about 17.5. Not a bad day, but not as productive as I would like. Fishing again in the morning, I'll post a report if we find them.
Nice red. He makes that Spanish look like a minner!
That spot we talked about a while back has cooled off! We went Sunday AM and caught nuttin. We are gonna try it one more time in the evening. Good luck fishin, I wish I was.
