AJs, AJs and more AJs

Came down to the coast primarily to pick up my new shallow water/ river boat at Mike's. 1652 G3 / Yamaha Jet 40. Mike did a custom interior set up for me and it looks as good or better than the factory rigs :D Anyway got back to C'belle around lunch saw how slick the seas were and decided we had time for an afternoon trip. My son, a friend and I headed out to a well known reef with a couple of dozen live baits. As usual there were half a dozen boats anchord when we got there . Deceided to slow troll the baits around before anchoring and maybe pick up a king. Baits had been in the water about 10 min when one of the 6500 Baitrunners went off. Didn't act like a king making several shot runs before setteling into a up and down tug of war. Fifteen minutes later nice 30lb AJ in the box. Not bad for 15lb test line. Continured this pattern until all the baits were gone and the boys were worn out. Final talley, kept three AJs 25-30lbs and released half a dozen more. Had two steel leaders cut by a couple of larger baracuda. Smooth ride back in and then it was cold beer and AJ steaks on the grill to finish a great day spent with my son :-D

Ya gotta love it when things just fall into place  Seems some of the best trips are the ones not planned :-D

Boat ran fine. Seas one foot or less, set the RPMs at 4000, trim them up a little and she runs along at 27 kts. Not the fastest but, stable dry ride
