St. Marks 8-11-11

Post by lordsfisher »

It was a perfect day on the water today with my daughters. They were fishing live bait under CT's and one got a tremendous strike and broke off the whole rig immediately. A few min later she said "What's that orange thing?" I said, "It's your float" I cranked up and ran after it. It kept circling our boat over and over and we could see it was about a 40" cobia dragging that cork with one of those buzz bait props on it. It was the darnest sight! I tried everything I could think of to snatch that line with a surf rod that could handle it, to no avail. The big one that got away. I think and hope that little hook will rust right out. They lost some good fish during fighting, such as a red, one trout, and a big blue. I casted once and caught a really big bluefish on a Yozuri. Not a great haul, but a great day on the water. Planning to head out again tomorrow.
