iBall Wireless Trailer Hitch Camera

Post by silverking »

Do you get tired of getting out of your tow vehicle several times to line up the hitch ball and receiver on your boat trailer? Is your truck license plate all dinged and scratched? If so, then the iBall Wireless Trailer Hitch Camera is the perfect solution. This compact system includes a wireless color monitor that plugs into the tow vehicle's 12-volt power port or cigarette lighter. The monitor has a gooseneck mount for easy viewing from the driver's seat. The companion camera, which is fully submersible, attaches by magnet to the vehicle tail gate. It's powered by a single 9-volt battery. The camera and monitor mounts in seconds and with it you can back up to the trailer hitch and align it perfectly every time without having to get out of the truck or have your fishing buddy guide you back. It also works great in the dark for those pre-dawn trips. One caveat--a Bluetooth navigation system may cause some interference, but it hasn't been an issue on my standard Ford F-150. And as much as I'm hooking up the boat trailer for charters, the iBall is going to save lots of time and aggravation. The iBall system retails for $139.99 and it's well worth it!

While the boat trailer is not really a problem (I am not an old man yet!) , hooking up the camper is. Can't just drag it around. I have something similiar to this for my truck. Camera has a magnet I attached to it, just stick it on tailgate and I can see the ball to back up from the monitor in cab. Got mine at Sams for 60 bux. Makes it much more fun to hook up that watching somebody in the mirror wave their hands all over the place and having no idea what they are meaning. (You married men will know what that means) :smt005

I shot those pix, DT, of the system mounted in my truck. It comes with the magnet already installed and that shot is the camera stuck to my tail gate. The other advantage is the camera is sealed and submersible, just in case you ever get splashed at a ramp or you mount the camera to the trailer tongue instead.

The iBall can be used for utility trailers, RVs, ATV, etc., too.

From what I see, the cig lighter plug also supports the monitor. Very nice. No power cables to worry with. If that had been around when I got mine, that is what I would have gotten.

I've been wanting to get something like this for when I tandem tow. I can't stand not being able to see the boat/tires behind my camper.
