Cell phones

Post by RL »

Anyone have any luck with cell phones out by the K-Tower? I hear analog bag phones work, but those are getting phased out.

Its true that a 3 watt bag phone is the only way to go for cell phones well offshore. My US Cellular phone (not bag) has been able to call 6 miles off St. George, and 20 miles off St. Marks.

This is an old thread, I sure wish I still had my bag phone. That old analog signal was the bomb in rural areas.

My Dad still has his handset in his truck and occasionally reaches for it then grab s the flip phone.
