St Marks

Post by Dockwilson »

Headed out @ daylight today from the light house. Very cold and windy. Only 1 keeper trout, 1/2 dozen shorts and one very nice Spanish. No pics. Water temp was 56 to 65. Very slow. Gulp on a popper for the trout. Spanish on a pinfish on the bottom. Caught 2-3 dozen pins @ 3" and 4 finger mullet 5-8" in one cast net throw, after many emptys.
Good bait but not much bite.

I didn't fair much better in last two days at Econfina. :(. 3 keeper trout Monday w/ sev shorts.Wind and chop was nuts yesterday.went out at 2pm and off water at 7. Today was not much better,2 more trout,a 16 and an 18 1/2,2 nice flounder, one of which was 18 1/4!! Must have thrown back 25 shorts and 50 short BSB. I don't know if it was a the wind, low water temp or a combo of the two. I said all that to say,for two days of fishing HARD,we had 5 trout and two flounder! So much for fish fry at the firehouse, huh? Hell,I can't complain though,I just enjoyed being away and on the water. :D

Stained more yesterday, did better in clear water today. Shallow-2.5-3.5,nothing in 4-5 range. Oh,and Chris, that custom FSU mud hole is NICE. Hauled in the 18 1/2 trout and a that 18 in flounder... Got some "stank" on it now. Thanks,Todd.

TEN-FO bro, A guy that works for me went Mon. and some pretty dang good fish. 4-5 trout from 23-29 inches and a few upper slot to over slot reds. I don't have any pics but if you go to Leif's Fishing Page on FB he posted them there

Man that water temp has dropped. Should be back right by Saturday with these warm days. Thanks for the report.
