Left c-bell before 7am on my friends 28 foot Sea Fox with
twin 225's, awesome ride. Weather man said 1 to 2 feet
more like 4 foot with a few 6's thrown in, had the whole ocean
almost to ourselves.
Hit first tower, for hardtails was greeted by a couple small cobia.
caught a dozen and headed for the spanish sardines, caught several
dozen, headed for the reef.
Quickly were in battle with the reef donkeys, limited out in amberjacks
in about 1/2 hour and played with them for a while, my 13 yo son
was a hurt'n after a couple of those. The waves were'nt helping either.
Decided to head out to 85 feet and try for grouper. A bit of action
a lot of shorts and one keeper red snapper, my first.
Next stop try to play with some Kings, greeted this time by giant barracuda's. They just watched until my first hook up with a spanish.
I saw them dive, and I started cranking. Almost to the boat, when a cuda grabs ` 2/3 of
my mack , I pull hard and the spanish clears the water, as it continues towards the boat and my son's head
another cuda clears the water and grabs what's left about a foot from
my son's ear. That was fun.
Next, my wife hooks up and the race is on, but this time the mack decides to help. She is pulling with all her might when the spanish gets an eye full of the the cuda following and decides to jump and lands over my head and into the
boat. From the fire into the pan.
We continue catching and feeding the cudas when my wife hangs up something big, after an extended fight she pulls in a Little "Big" Tunny.
over 10 lbs and solid muscle, Wow.
Ended up the day with 4 amberjacks, 1 red snapper, 1/2 a dozen macks
(adding up all the pieces) and an assortment of large grunts and a vermillion Snapper.
The weather calmed down on the way in and not a drop fell until we
got headed back to town. Mark thanks for a great, great day.
