5/27 St.Marks- BIG fishes... Crap value

Post by CjCruz »

we fished a mile past the last inshore marker and caught nothing but sharks after sharks. Mostly 2-3 footers but hooked up a smoker 6-8 footer. It was greyish with dark circles... What kind of shark was it? btw no pic as it broke off beside the boat

We got tired of hooking up sharks so we moved in closer to the flats and it was not any better. No trouts.. redfish.. or even grunts. Just hooked stingrays after stingrays. All juveniles except for one 30+ lb monster

Just a horrible horrible day... It was fun fighting the big ones but taking home a decent fish would of been nice. Not to mention a shark pulled off with one of my rods, which luckily wasn't one of the more expensive ones... Still 50$ lost tho. This is only our 3rd time fishing in the st.marks area... any advice??? baits? location?

Tough fishing outta St Marks, its heavily pressured but if you put in your time you can score big. Its been my experience that your better off to go east. Aucilla and Econofina produce better for inshore stuff. As far as the offshore stuff goes, I target the areas south of Ocklocknee or even better DI or SGI.
I don't know when I'm gonna catch my next fish but I know when I do it's gonna be awesome!

Probably a tiger shark. Lemme guess using cut bait? Stop. Cut bait this time of year is good for 98% trash fish.

Yeah, I noticed that after fishing this area the third time. Cut bait is good where I usually fish. So what do you recommend? I heard gulp was good.

Gulp or plastic will score with the trout... Topwater early.
