Update on etec 90

Post by boomhauer »

Replaced a 1988 115 hp yammie with an etec 90 about a month ago. I had a slight concern about the 90 providing enough power, but felt better about it after test driving one. The motor runs great and NO issues with power. Had me 170, my dad 240+, a buddy 220+, 2 scuba tanks, ice etc, and the little 90 pushed it quite well. I was impressed! Only glitch so far is with tach, but shouldn't be a big deal. I described it as a little 90 for a reason. We passed another flats boat last week which had merc 90 four stroke. No offense to the merc guys , but that thing was as big as many 200hp v6's! Looked funny on that little boat.

So far so good with etec 90.

Good report, boomhauer. Been wanting me an etec. Glad to hear a good testimonial.
