Re: 2012 Snake ID
Upon execution ... it became a good snake! I don't go out of my way to kill non-poisonous or even the few coral snakes I've seen, but I would walk a mile to get a moccasin and 3/4 of mile to get a rattler. Both are deadly to dogs and children!
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!

Re: 2012 Snake ID
And just as fyi... didn't harm the rat snake. Don't kill nonpoisonous snakes in the yard. HAVE dispatched one juvenile cottonmouth (slit eye / facial stripe confirmed) who wanted to make our pool his home.
Also have relocated a wandering gator in our yard (other than pool, not a body of water within 1/2 mile) to the Wacissa, and almost got arrested for doing so by two wildlife officers at the river who didn't take kindly to my personal relocation efforts... stressed that had I been stopped while driving they couldn't have confirmed intent to release and WOULD have arrested me.
