does anyone know anything about PC repair?

last sunday morning my sony vaio decided to kick the bucket. it shut off without notice and will not turn back on. im getting 19.5v from the power supply, so i have ruled that out. any advice?

Don't know if you have a laptop ?? But if it is(?) and your battery takes a dump(which is a common problem) the charger will not feed thru to the computer. You will need to replace the battery, charge it, then run it.. Just checked and since it is a laptop --- you most likely need a battery which you can order on the internet.....

charlie: it is a laptop and ill check on the battery. this laptop is only about 14 months old...just out of warranty.

Can you get any response from the machine? Fans, hard drive spinning up? Trying to rule out a screen problem. Pull the battery completely and with the power supply plugged into the machine it should power up. If not then it could be the motherboard.

Dito what Tom said. It's highly unlikely that it's the battery causing it to not fire up!

tried taking the battery out and leaving it plugged in. no lights, no fan, no HDD sounds...total silence. i guess its either the motherboard or the power jack on the side. i guess it'll have to stay dead for a while, i dont have the money to fix it

Then the fan operates and you have lights, but it doesn't boot up ?
