improved clinch or uni knot?

Post by floridagatorsuf1 »

Both the uni-knot and the improved cinch knot seem to have the same function. Therefore which is stronger or better. I recently had a big pompano rip through a cinch knot. Which is the best all around, all purpose knot.

From the two knots you mentioned, I would go with the Uni. If you like the cinch or the improved cinch, then you might want to look at the Trilene Knot.

My personal favorite is the Pitzen Knot, which is very easy to tie, but is virtually impossible to diagram.

Uni over improved cinch definitely. Now, if someone would show a good loop knot, I'd have it made.

I used to use the improved clinch knot. Sometime awhile back I went to the uni-knot for all practical applications.

I have used the uniknot exclusively since 1972. I have had 2 break. It is possible they had teeth marks prior to breaking. The best thing about it is how easy it is ti tie. Not to mention the 100% knot strength.
