yak repairs

Post by luceror »

I'm new at the repair end of kayaking, but a large oak tree branch fell on my boat and but 2 SINKING CRACKS in the bottom. I used the stuff called G-Flex, by WEst systems. Worked great ,and if I could fix it wc this stuff anybody can. I got it at West Marine store. Took her out today NO Leaks. Stuff drys hard/but is still kinda flexable.. Easy to use.

If the cracks aren't too big you can also use a soldering iron to "weld" the cracks back together. I patched up some cracks on my buddies yak that way. It sealed the hole and even looked good! (His cracks were above the water line, so I'm not sure how well it would hold up on the bottom)
