Tim works at my wifes school and she asked if he could come out and try for a deer. I said it would be ok, but come to find out he had a rifle that was not sighted in. We cant sight one in during season so I offered to let him use my Browning. A few weeks back he was supposed to come Sunday morning but wanted to come sat afternoon instead. He saw nothing that eve. My son and I sat Sunday morning and saw a nice 6pt that just stood thre that he could have got. Fast forward to this sat morn(the last weekend of the season) I sit with Tim to help him look and coach him as well. That morning we saw a huge buck before shooting light. Since nothing showed after that I asked to come out again that eve. We saw nothing so I suggested we try this morning again. At about 7:30 a button came out and I asked him if he wanted to shoot it. Of course he said yes and got the gun up. I watched throught the scope as he shot ...BOOM The deer jumped straight up and ran with it's tail high.

But I did find long white hairs and little shavings of what looked like skin. We went 30 yards in the woods from the spot to where he ran and found nothing at all. No blood hair or anything, I figure he just gave it a close shave. Of course Tim is feeling sick and really down. I tell him it is still early and we should get back in the stand. Once back in I asked him what he thinks happened and he says that he closed his eyes when he pulled the trigger. I tell him how he should do it if another opportunity presented itself. Of course he is sure that wont happen since he shot already that morning. I tell him you never know what will happen. Around 8:30 I see a deer in the pines that moved out of sight quickly. I tell Tim to watch the corner because it should pop out there.....He says he sees it so I look and there comes a second, third, forth, and a fifth one! They are all bunched up together at first, so I tell him to get the rifle up and wait for one to separate from the group. One does so I start talking him through the shot.
I watch through my scope and remind him to keep his eye open and just start putting pressure on the trigger while holding it on the spot.........BOOM! The deer does a nose dive straight into the dirt facefirst and then gets up and barrels into the wood edge. Tim looks at me and I tell him it's a good hit so we settle back and give it a little time before we go look. At 8:55 we get down and start looking. I'm looking for blood at the edge of the woods while Tim walks by and keeps going. I hear him a minute later say that he's found it. 1st deer at 42 years old! We get it out of the woods and get it on the cart to take to the house and skin.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us It was pretty awesome to get to help someone that did not have opportunities to deerhunt as a youth. And he is the 4th person to get their 1st deer out of that stand. Good job Tim.
