St Marks NWR - 21 Apr

Post by Terrier »

Fished the wash bar at the refuge again this morning until about 1:30PM - cold and windy to start, but the fish were still active. Picked up and few small spanish on olive/tan clousers and got cut off a few more times. Missed a couple of ladyfish. I switched over to a bright green and pearl polarflash clouser and picked up two nice trout, one at 22" and the other at 19"

I also broke my TFO BVK rod - clouser hit the rod causing a weak spot and it broke on the next cast.

Lotta work for them fish.... Way to stay after them! The coming weeks the trout should go absolutely Nuts for anything you throw at them

Things are definately heating up. Seems like the trout are bigger this year - I've seen some east coast reports of 28"-29" trout being caught near Jax, as well as the large ones caught around here.
