My friend Billy was able to bring his son on my boat with me and wanting to put a lot of fish in the boat and with the front moving in we opted to try for cobia another day and make the smart call to hit the east flats. We found the best action in water deeper than 5 feet and caught a mixed bag. We caught or quick released fish pretty consistently including a jack, rock bass, lady fish, spanish, more lady fish, short trout, and two keepers at 17" and 19". About 1:30 I noticed the temp drop a little and the spray behind a boat going by was blowing and looking white. We immediately packed up and headed back to the lighthouse. It started blowing good before we got there but the boat handled it remarkably well.
On the way up the channel on the west side we saw a king mackerel sky rocket on some bait which is a pretty unusual sight. We got to the lighthouse with a group of about 8 boats and the loading process with the lightning and thunder closing in quickly actually went pretty orderly. All heck broke loose just as we drove the truck out of the ramp area.
