St Marks NWR - 26 May

Post by Terrier »

Fished St Marks yesterday and today, both times in the morning. Lots of activity with Macks and Jacks - Caught 6 spanish Saturday and two today, with many cut-offs as well. Spanish were from 12" - 16" inches. One of the macks I caught today had its tail bitten off by a shark or something else as I fought it. Also got Blue Runner, Yellow jacks and Jack Crevalle, including a 4-5 lb'er today that put up a great fight. I watched all the boats head out to deeper water from the ramp, but saw one fisherman fishing from the bar nearly land a nice Cobia - he lost it at his feet. I also had a manatee pass within a few feet of me, as did sea turtles - lots a creatures just yards from the boat ramp.
