What version of windows? Install anything new? Might have a program running hidden.

What Rob said. Also make sure it's not set to "None" in the drop-down.

It's not the screensaver settings, I don't think. It's that the monitor won't shut down after so many minutes. I think it's the power saver. I have it set for 5 minutes but, it won't shut down.

Makes me yearn for the good old days, when all you had to do was turn the on/off knob.MarkM wrote:It's that the monitor won't shut down after so many minutes. I have it set for 5 minutes but, it won't shut down.

Do you want it to shutdown or go to screen saver? Two different things.

Forever my computer would go to screensaver after so many minutes, then the monitor would what I call go to sleep, after so many minutes. Then I could shake the mouse and wake it up???

Re: Wevans, other computer people?
So it's not doing either? Id turn them both off. Then turn them on one at a time testing to see which one works and which don't. Then test together. May give u a better idea where the issue is.

How about: Control Panel / Hardware and Sound / Power Options / Change Plan Settings / Turn Off Display (I think this mean to hibernate until you move the mouse)

Re: Wevans, other computer people?
Thanks everybody for your help. I tried Rodbows suggestion on the hibernation thing. It didn't work either. But, when I did the restart after changing the settings it worked. So, I changed my screensaver settings and did the restart and it's working fine. Thanks again.
