Well decided to run to the West flats this afternoon. Pulled into the lighthouse ramp close to one and it was really pretty nice. We loaded up and made our way out to the bird rack and then to the flats at Live Oak. Low and behold, we're not 5 minutes in the water and WHAP.... no, not fish but LIGHTING and it was not a pretty sight. Stayed about 15 minutes and several good strikes but I was more concerned with the weather and made the run to the ramp. It turned ugly and fast... The good is there are some really nice crystal clear spots out there and it would be BETTER if we had been able to stay longer but such is life. Still better than being at work
There's nothing more annoying than making that drive allllllll the way down to the lighthouse, just to turn around and come back. It's a pretty drive though! Be sure you watch that 15 mph zone too. US Fish and Wildlife runs radar there.
