Second place still has the same club points with five boats as it does with fifty don't it? Just a little less payback.

OK, the whole story.

First of all, Wevans, I did prefish. We fished from 1100 till 1700 Friday. We fished from daylight till 1500 Saturday. The tournament was from safe daylight till 1500 yesterday.

Participation was not good. We had five show up. and yes, CS, the points are the same whether it's 5 or 20.

Low tide was about 1100 Friday. So, we were fishing a rising tide. We found a few fish in a couple of creek mouths.

Saturday morning, we fished the falling tide, through the low, and a little into the rise. We found one spot with eel grass around the mouth of a creek. We picked up a few fish on the falling tide. Went back to this spot on the rising tide, and better fish had moved in. And, they were hungry. We felt we were in good shape for Sunday.

We went straight to this spot Sunday morning. At 1130 we had caught about 10 shorts and I had 1 keeper. Low tide was at 1152. What we didn't anticipate was the tide fell further than the chart predicted, and this spot became unfishable. So we went to a couple of the other spots we had looked at. The tide never turned before we had to be in. Our fish never showed up.

I finished with three keepers from 3 different spots, over a 20 mile stretch of river. My partner never caught a keeper. My three fish weighed 3.08 pounds, and that was good enough for second. First place was 4 fish weighing 4.12 pounds. Third place was 2 fish weighing 1.86 pounds.

We fished fron 0640 to 1500. Of the 8 hours and 20 minutes of fishing time, it rained 5 hours.

You gotta want to do this stuff. :-D
