St. Marks 8/21/13

Post by milto »

So the fellas and I decided to take an afternoon off and head for the coast for a little pre birthday celebration. We all met up at the rainman's house at around 3:15 and off we were. A good ole check to the radar and tide chart and we decided to put in at the fort. When we arrived at the fort, we were met by an onslaught of FWC officers!! Luckily they were there just for training. :D We thought about heading out to one of the nearshore reefs, but after throwing the net and catching bait, the time nor wind was in our favor. So, we decide to just hang out at the bars. We threw live bait on the bottom and hung out and had a few   . Not much of a beer guy but my Sailor Jerry spilled in the cooler :smt011 . First cast for ole Rainey and not even 5 minutes later, he is on with a good fight. Turns out to be a decent blue. Not too much later its bigphishie's turn, this time an even better fight. This one took him around the boat several times. BOOOOM RED FISH!!!! But over slot around 31" and boy was he a fatty!! Some time passes along with a lot of our frosties (thanks to RustyG). Must have been all them booze in him because he was next up on the fish hook up. His turn turned out to be a nice keeper red right at 21". The sun started to dip quickly (to me it did since I hadn't caught a red yet), but next thing you know, BOOOM!! I'm on!! I wasn't messin around either. My Terramar and Sustain combo worked this red to the boat no problem, and I was rewarded with a nice 24". The night was almost over, but bigphioshie wasn't finished yet. Next thing you know, he's on again!! And again with another good fight, and even though he would come to the boat and thrash, it was too dark to see what it was. After several runs, he get its close enough and its a BIG RED!!! This guy was a great tournament red at just over 26". Overall a good night with good friends!

(PICS ARE IN ORDER OF THE NIGHT...)
