FWC online purchase and scam

Post by cotton »

I got a new computer for Christmas that has Internet explorer 10. I learned quickly that all web sites don't necessarily work with IE 10. I found a neat button at the top of the screen called "Compatibility View" that seems to work most everywhere.

So I went to MyFWC.com to renew my saltwater license and encountered similar problems. So I click my little button. It seems to solve my problem, so I make the purchase. After purchasing, I click the print button which I assume will pop up a pdf of my new license. It does absolutely nothing. I try the customary 100 times. Finally I decide to click my little button. It refreshes the screen minus the print button. Now the stupid web site expects me to pay $2 to print a license I never was able to print in the first place. What a scam. $2 to do a web service call to retrieve a pdf document. Your kidding me. It should be free.

Not that anyone at FWC will care. But your web site to purchase licenses, and hosted by who knows who, sucks!!!!!!!!!

Don't fall for the $2 scam. Just found this on MyFWC.com...

Printing your license or permit - Customers that make a license or permit purchase and are unable to print the license or permit should check to make sure their browsers pop-up blocker is disabled. You will receive a confirmation e-mail for your purchase, that e-mail will have another copy of your license attached. Your print number is valid as a license for 30 days. Non-resident 3-day and 7-day licenses will not receive a license attached to the conformation e-mail, but your Print Number from your conformation page is valid as a license.

Found mine in my confirmation email.

I had the same problem with Chrome. I called them and they told me to check the e-mail. Sure enough, it was there!

I wonder what these folks get paid to make crappy web software..... :smt011

Talk to Brandt information services downtown tallahassee. .. I think they've taken over the licensing services

Using Chrome, you wait for the e-mail confirmation and print from there. Been this way for several years that I know of.

My problem was not that I couldn't get it to work, but how it wasn't obvious that you didn't need to repay a fee to get your license. I bet hundreds of folks paid. Otherwise, it wouldn't be the first frequently asked question on their website. They know its broke, but haven't fixed it.
