Duck Season

Post by bman »

Opens Saturday... I'm excited.
I've got several spots scouted out and a few more to check this week
Four out of town trips planned - Alabama, Mississippi and twice in the Everglades.

Anyone else going to be out there?

Opening day can be pretty crazy. Ill probably wait a little. I bet the youngsters will be sleeping in their spots Friday night. Good luck to all that go.

Got into a small lease in Georgia this year.

We have Pintails, Widgeon, Gadwall, teal and ringers right now. Around 3-400 on one of the 3 acre flooded ponds.

Screw opening morning crowds.

Plus going to the Everglades on Dec 14-15 and Jan 18-19.

I'll miss opening weekend, but that's likely the only weekend I'll miss. I plan to hunt this area hard as usual and have a bonus hunt at MINWR in late December and another in the glades in January. With some water in the local lakes this year, I'm hopeful that folks will have enough sense to spread out, but experience tells me they won't. Bring on the insanity.

Present and can't wait to use the new rig.

oh yeah, I'm going with that bbb fella down south too.

Good luck at the new lease 3b's, maybe those released birds will still be there salute1

I just wish people would quit riding the lakes every day from before day to sunset running birds off.

That's a long tote with a trolling motor. Wish they would open it up to some motors. Guess a 36v 101# thrust would do it on the gheenoe.

Well scouted three ponds yesterday. One had a few birds and the other two had nada. Dale ... be gentle in those turns man, cuz you got the best sounding spot yet! I sure don't want to have to shoot public land on opening day, but that might be my best bet right now. :smt012

I wasn't even planning to shoot this soon after back surgery, but with the species list I was emailed I'm gonna try it with the 20ga.

MD, I'll also be down on there the weekend of the 18-19th. Don't forget the DEET...forgot it one morning last year down there and thought I was going to walk out with Malaria.

Says the man who scouted my own place and told me he saw but a few wood ducks at home... very next day I walk down the path to the pond to be greeted by this sight. Some scouting skills, Bman. ;-)
