Just got back in town last night so here goes...

Went out with Voyager Fishing Charters leaving from Capt. Hiram's restaraunt. Seas were less than 2 ft and we were on a 52 foot boat. Went east about 8 miles to a reef. The captain fails to give us his name or instructions. There was no deck hand or first mate. Granted it was a half day trip and it only cost $40 bucks per person, I thought the customer service was a little lacking. He made sure everyone caught at least one fish. The trigger fish and rock bass were biting. We used cut mullet. No one caught anything with live pinfish. We were bottom fishing with 8 ounce lead and what appeared to be about 30-40 lb test. I was unsucceful catching on my own any trigger fish, but the captain had the art form down to a science. I was able to catch a legal Rock Bass but threw him back in hopes of catching grouper or snapper.

I didn't stay to see the final tally but there was a mess of triggers along with some nice Rock Bass that were caught at the front of the boat in the 2 to 3 lb arena, but it was disappointing because I just knew we were going to catch big stuff.

It was a nice way to spend half the morning and the wife enjoyed it since we didn't bounce around due to the calmness of the water. It definitely was the calmest I have ever seen it in my life. Go figure.

  WTG, Big. Too bad the bite wasn't better, but at least you and the misses got to go out. We plan to fish a charter out of Brunswick this fall, so maybe the bite will improve before then.
