St Marks NWR - 15 March

Post by Terrier »

Fished the refuge from 3:00 - 7:00 PM today - some activity despite the recent cold mornings. The wash bar by the light house produced 3 trout: 15", 15.5" and 17" , a 17" flounder and a 16" spanish mack.
An "LSU" clouser (purple over yellow) accounted for three fish (2 trout, spanish), a pink/white/chart. marabou and ostrich clouser type fly got the flounder. An olive/chart/tan clouser got the other trout.
The water was warm enough for all afternoon wading. Things should bust open soon.

Nice. I hung around up the river and caught some small sheaphead, mangrove snapper and black drum. Only one was a keeper but it was nice to have some sort of action.
