Shell Point 3/22-23
Went down Saturday after turkey hunting to try the flats. Water was dark and the wind really picked up making it hard to fish. We managed 5 short trout in the 2 hours we were able to fish. We fished twitch baits and soft plastics. Sunday was much calmer and we fished in the fog early. We went east and found clearer water, but no bites there. Moved around and found a few fish hanging on the edge of the channel. We boated 6 shorts and my buddy caught a 16.5" trout which I topped with a 17.5" a few casts later. We saw one group of Spanish and I boated one that was 24" to the fork. Finally got to use the Bubba blade my brother gave me for Christmas. That dude is sharp! Water temps were 66-68 so the fishing should start to pick up pretty soon. Bite was very timid, but the fish were healthy.
