Dumb question re: St George

I know folks do it all the time, but I have been curious about this.

Is it legal to anchor (off to the side obviously) in the cut at St George? It seems like that is a channel to me and you are not supposed to anchor in a channel. Right?

Yes, you can anchor in a channel. You can not anchor in a marked navigational channel. If there are no red / green buoys, you are fine.

Thanks. I always wondered if the cut was considered a navigation channel. We caught one ray and nothin else. It was eye opening to see the gulf water keeping the Appalach water inside the cut until it started running out. The blue/brown line was dramatic. The dolphins were thick.

We saw the same thing in St. Joe Bay last Sunday. My family and I stayed for the weekend after the tournament and fished along the State Park side of St. Joe Bay. As we came back toward the City boat ramp, there was a drastic line in the water going from blue to dark brown caused by all of the water coming out of the Intercoastal Waterway. The entire NE corner of the bay was foamy and dark brown.
