St Marks NWR - 18 May 2014

Post by Terrier »

Fished the wash bar from 8:00 AM - 11:30 AM this morning . Water was dingy - off-color with some silting, but there was at least 1 - 2 feet of visibility. Didn't expect much with the water quality and lack of water movement but I got surprised with a 28.5" redfish around 10:00 AM. It was quite a fight on a 7wt rod - lots of long runs and head shaking. It was a stubborn, big-shouldered fish and took me a while to land it. That was the only fish of the day and the only strike of the day, except for some pinfish taps.
