What ramp help?
Headed down from Tennessee next week. I have never been in this area. I was wanting to fish alligator point and bay toward Lanark. What ramp do you suggest. Any other local tips appreciated!

Re: What ramp help?
There is a public ramp on the harbor side. Fairly easy access to the areas you mentioned.

Re: What ramp help?
The public ramp has about 2 parking spots. Also you have to have at least 1.5 feet of water to launch a bay boat. There is no public parking at the marina ramp. Sun and sand rd has a dirt ramp good for kayaks and Jonboats. Lanark has a much better ramp wiht parking but it comes wih a $10 launch fee. There is a store there that sells non ethanol gas, they have a little tackle and sometimes live bait. And of course ice and drinks. Nice folks. Good luck, hope you have a nice visit

You really can't launch anything larger than a canoe/ kayak at Leonard's. It is a sand ramp and very shallow.

Re: What ramp help?
It's been years since I "tried" to launch there. There may be some concrete that was covered up when I went, but it is super shallow. Way way back in the day it was deeper and everyone on St Theresa would use that ramp to launch their walers. Now it's really only used by the guys w clam leases( canoes and jon boats) and yakers. Last time I drove by I saw a truck w all 4 tires underwater trying to pull out an aluminum skiff.kikstand454 wrote:? Huh?

Re: What ramp help?
There's no concrete there anymore. Sand ramp. I tried to put my 16-foot flat bottom mud boat in there about a month ago and couldn't get it deep enough. Ended up running back to the Sun-n-Sand ramp.

Thanks guys! Im going to start down in Lanark. Ill be fishing my 1860 lowe. Looking forward to trip. The lack of rain up here has slowed down my stripers.
Re: What ramp help?
There's a concrete slab at leonard's landing, but most of it (if not all) is buried now. Even when it was there, it was all but useless unless you could push your boat off the trailer without it touching the water. Lanark is the way to go.
