St Marks NWR - 24 Aug 2014

Post by Terrier »

Fished the refuge from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Some activity with the new moon, despite the heat. Ended up with a 17" red on a olive/chart/white clouser, an 18" redfish on a white artic fox shrimp pattern, a 16"jack on a tan arctic fox shrimp pattern, a remora (2nd one on the fly) on a olive/chart/tan clouser and a 16" spanish on the same fly. I got cut off 3 times by spanish. There was a lot of activity near the top of the tide with fish and dolphins busting baitfish. Can't wait for cooler weather and the trout to come back shallow.

I've never caught a redfish out of St. Marks. Yesterday I got into a school or spanish mackerels and another school of jacks. Caught one nice trout.
