OCHLOCKONEE RIVER

Post by CAPTAIN CHARLIE »

Has anyone had any luck fishing for reds near the OCHLOCKONEE river state park? What about any other kinds of fish? My son recently bought s home there and I plan to fish there real soon. I have never fished that part of the river. Thanks for any tips.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and didn't have any luck with the reds. Found a nice little hole and the water was moving but nothing. It rained heavily before i went so there was a lot of fresh water in the river.

The Ochlocknee has usually been very good to me for reds and bass. I usually troll the river bends and Bear creek with crankbaits. Also winter time use live shrimp in the holes for sheepshead and red. My biggest reds past 28" size have all come from the river. Never fished there in the summer. Tides must be moving for any activity. Also snags are everywhere.
Good luck

Thanks for the tip. I'll be trying them up close to the state park.
