I will be staying near the beach of Bald Point State Park and will be doing alot of surf fishing for pretty much any and everything(shark, trout, redfish, stingrays). Were you targeting any certain species? Can you give a good area to fish at...or is pretty much the entire beach pretty good you think. What type of lures/baits/rigs were you using. What did you catch? sorry for all the questions...I'm just really excited about coming down in 3 weeks!!!! talk to you soon. Thanks

We got our start at Bald Point fishing live shrimp on a Carolina Rig. We caught countless reds at high tide. There's still not many feelings that compare to seeing your rod doubled over in the rod holder the way those reds would double it. Ah, life before buying a boat! You should be able to catch plenty at high tide, we had success around the point towards Alligator Point. Good Luck!

Plenty of everything in the surf there- but depending on where your house is you may be in a better or worse spot.
In the shallows there will be lots of smaller fish- sharks, silver trout etc
if you can find a deep area or a cut you will do better on the reds and trout will cruse around.

Try top water early. There will be ladies, Spanish and blues around too.

Following up on what Luc said, you could go as much as 2 hr.s before and after high. We had the baes luck on the west end of the state park, around a slight bend that gets you out of the really strong current of the changing tide. Once the water leaves, there's not much there, even if you wade way out.

We learned to catch reds there, the old fashioned way, sinking shrimp on the bottom, a lesson well received. I will always have the visual image of us all sprinting to see who could get to the bent over rod first. Often, it was more than one. When it's hot, it's hot, and it's the perfect time of year.
