St. Marks Lighthouse Fishing

Post by LivinTheSaltLife »

Hey I am new to the area and new to wading. I'm looking for some tips and pointers on being successful fishing at St. Marks Lighthouse.
I've been there the past 2 weekends and had success both weekends catching redfish and Spanish mack...but it wasn't really wading. It was more of standing at the end of oyster bar and casting out the end and picking off redfish here and there.

Should I walk up and down the lighthouse and just cast out pinfish, shrimp...ect?

any help would be appreciated

If you walk around the other side of the boat ramp, you can fish off the north end of the 'jetty' and there is an oyster bar right there. Never done it, but thought it would be a good spot to try one day if im not in the boat.

YOU MIGHT TRY WALKING TO THE WEST FROM THE BOAT CANAL AND FISHING THOSE OYSTER BARS THERE. IN THE PAST WE HAVE DONE VERY GOOD ON TROUT AND REDS WORKING ALL THE OYSTER BARS BACK UP THE RIVER. WE HAVE USED A BOAT WITH A TROLLING MOTOR BUT IT SHOULD BE EASH WADE FISHING THAT AREA AND WE REALLY SLAYED THE FISH WITH TOP WATER BATES MOST OF THE YEAR.

I've been having some nice size reds, most in the slot on the weekends on pinfish. There are endless amount of pinfish near the oyster bars.

Sorry posted to wrong discussion last time. Too busy reading different posts:

Right on! Me and my buddy hit the flats late Tuesday afternoon for an hour and caught small trout on top water and a sea bass and lizard fish on a red fish magic. Wednesday late afternoon was too choppy so we hit the mouth of the river and only got a.... sea bass on RFM again. May need to try the pinfish or just go at the right time for once.

Any pointers from the form is appreciated!!!
