Post by Blue spinner »

Slow day for me today , caught short short trout and seabass
Did talk to a few people that did good in 2ft to water
I was fishing in 4' to 6' only fish from 7:30 to 11:30
One thing about the speed of light it gets here too early in the morning

Thanks for the report. I wonder why there's not more bigger fish up that way? We fished between Keaton and Spring Warrior last Friday and only had 3 keepers, but they were nice ones. Shorts must be everywhere now.

Thanks Bluespinner for the good report.

We fished Keaton the 15th and 22 of October and limited out both times. The 15th we caught larger trout, one Spanish and several sea bass. The 22nd we caught smaller trout, one 22" redfish and several more sea bass. The 22nd was by far the harder day finding keepers but both days we must have caught 40-50 shorts and assortment of other fish.

We had to go to a Zman bait the 22nd to keep the hook baited. Color, shape or make didn't seem to matter. They would bite anything! I even caught three gag grouper from 16' to 19". They pulled hard and would burry up in the grass coming in. It was hard to return the 19" to the water. It was big enough to eat!

We fished out from Adam's Beach in 3.5 to 6 foot water using all methods. Slinging a cork still seems to be the easiest and best. I do enjoy seeing them strike top water but they don't always feed on top.

I thought about giving you a shout on the radio but didn't. We usually fish closer to Rock Island but have not found fish their lately.

The 15th we learned the Marina would be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. We went back on the 22 (Thursday) and found it closed with a new sign and hours posted on the door. So for now, I suppose they are closed Tuesday through Thursday and opened Friday through Monday. But, you never know! No hours update on their Keaton web site. Mike was there on the 15th. He is a very nice person and enjoys helping people. I think all the other crew found other employment. We'll miss seeing them!

Dixie Reb, I see the bite is still off in that Friday was a slow day for you. We are fishing the same area but different days. This coming week we'll probably fish Friday. We'll give you a shout on channel 14 if we do. Have you tried Dog Head and Piney Point areas? This time of year those areas can be good fishing. Thanks for your report as well.
