bald point flats

Post by ertauber »

Fish this area three times per week for several years and the one thing I noticed this summer is the serious decline in pods of baitfish and the HUGE increase in sharks. I wonder if there is a correlation. Last years if you fished anywhere near a pod you caught mackeral, jacks, blues, trout, bonito and the occasional sharks. So far I've caught three jacks, no blues, nice trout, no macks.
Last weeks fishing for trout with shrimp didn't catch a one. Changed to a shrimp artificial I bought at Academy and two of us limited out in thirty minutes. Gulp did not work.
Again it is called "fishing" not " catching".

Thanks, we saw a lot of bait pods out in front of Aucilla on Wed. And only caught 2 sharks. I think the hot weather might have something to do with not seeing many pods in close.

Fished Bald Point this morning, caught only one keeper and several lady fish. Did see a school of 8 to 10 large Tarpon swim by the boat several times. They looked huge but that's the first time I have ever seen any.
