Re: Stripers
Only one way to find out but I can't go until Tuesday. Still a bit early to be there in numbers but the early fish are usually the bigger ones and they should be showing up about now.

Re: Stripers
Doesn't matter. The fish will be any where there's running water. I'm fishing Andrews Dam on the Chattahoochee. I'll know in the morning if they're there.relicshunter wrote:Is this the Rodman dam?

Re: Stripers
Thanks, I was thinking about below Woodruff at Lake Seminole or Lake Talquin.
Re: Stripers
Fished for 4 hours below Andrews dam on the Chatahoochee this morning. The water level was as high as I've seen it in a long time and the river running wide open... not the best conditions but still managed 11. All hybrids and all between 2 and 5 pounds. I was expecting larger fish and wasn't expecting to catch many but 11 ain't bad considering the conditions. They do love to pull. If they're here, then I would guess they're below Woodruff too.eightwt wrote:Are there stripers below the dams yet?

Some nice fish, they are fun to catch, have caught a few but never kept any, how good are they to eat?

Re: Stripers
I agree. They are fun to catch but "strippers" might even be more fun. I've eaten a few (stripers not strippers) and imo they're pretty good when deep fried or blackened (my favorite) but I'd rather eat saltwater fish.. I released all of today's catch to be caught another day.kenfly wrote:Some nice fish, they are fun to catch, have caught a few but never kept any, how good are they to eat?

Re: Stripers
Juan, did you make the run to the dam?
Re: Stripers
I did.. Didn't find any shad running the walls. Only one other boat there and they were catfishing.crappielimits wrote:Juan, did you make the run to the dam?

Re: Stripers
Ventured below woodruff yesterday in the yak and along the fence on the fly. No love, saw conventional guys catching a few. First time fishing there. One fellow had caught a white, a hybrid, a choctaw, and a striper. Heard there were a number of larger stripers caught last week.
